Nicolas Bras will present his musical instrument design methods and play a few pieces.
Here's a brief description of his approach: "Created in 2010 by Nicolas Bras, the Musiques de Nulle Part project explores the sonorities and musical possibilities of raw materials, diverted objects and salvaged materials, in order to produce instruments with harmonious or noisy, soft or grating but always surprising sounds. The instruments we create are inspired by traditional instruments from all musical cultures, by all the acoustic principles used to obtain a sound, or by the shape of an object found on the sidewalk. These instruments from nowhere are hijackings, hybridizations, adaptations to materials, playing techniques or the musician's wishes, the only constraint: that it sounds!" (Source : Link)
