The documentation department aims to provide the documentary resources and services required for the School's teaching, research and administrative needs
It also seeks to work actively with the various research document sources so as to guarantee priority access for its users.
The documentation department comprises the central library and 14 on-campus laboratory libraries. Specialized and complementary, these libraries operate as a decentralized network.
The documentation department presents all of the works, collections and periodicals in the network, so as to offer users the widest possible access to quality scientific information, whether available on-campus or on-line.
All of the resources are listed in the library catalog, available at http://bibli.ec-lyon.fr from any campus terminal or by the Internet for outside use.
The central library has built up, keeps up and offers physical access to 20,000 documents (monographs, journals, theses, reports, reference works, etc.) in the field of engineering science and business - and also in human sciences, current affairs, and general knowledge.
It provides on-line access to 3,000 scientific journals, scientific data bases, e-directories and e-encyclopedias, and classified and commented Internet sites. PhD theses from Centrale Lyon are all digitized and available.
The laboratory libraries basically contain specialist works, and specialist journals in particular.
Access to libraries and library services is reserved in priority for internal users: students, teachers, researchers, and other members - working or retired - of the teaching and non-teaching staff of Centrale Lyon
For these users, access is free of charge.
Library cards are available for students on presentation of a student's card and proof of residence.
On registration, you will be provided with your library card and a password to get access to your reader's file.
Users may borrow:
- 6 books
- 3 periodicals
- 2 musical CD
- 3 weeks (books)
- 1 week (periodicals and musical CD)
Outside users (students, teachers, engineers, corporations) may borrow, after prior registration.

Central library staff will answer any questions you may have and guide you in the collections.
